| gadget01 | Nice! Takes up very little space yet it does everything you need.
I considered a Shuttle, but the parts are proprietary. If you have a motherboard or power supply problem, you can only get them from Shuttle-- a company that does not excel at customer service. |
| plasman | the cooling is great but the fan died early on so i replaced with a new thermaltake one. i had to bend the metal tabs that held the old one in place to make it fit. guess thats another mod.
The newer systems are a little hotter than this model, but they are sufficient (5-10 degrees above desktop) |
| Shocker | I'm thinking about getting one of these, so I don't have to lug my big tower around. How the cooling inside that case? |

This computer is a combination of a barebone system I bought online and some parts from my old Dell computer. The barebone system is a XPC SS56G version 2. Basically it includes the case, motherboard, powersupply, and heatsink. They are all specially designed to go with this case. The only other thing i bought hardware wise is the ram, which is 512mb of Corsair Value DDR400 and the Radeon 9800 pro, which is from main rig's old parts.
It has a DVD drive for watching movies and anything else on DVD. I have stealthed the cover on this drive using the empty bay cover that came with the system. I also have an wireless keyboard so I can sit on the couch and use the system. It has a joystick also for mouse use and is suprisingly easy use Windows with the keyboard and mouse. I have made the text a little large because I am using just a composite connector to the tv, so it is not very sharp. The system all fits in a nice shuttle bag that i bought on Newegg. Its a pretty powerful, little system.
It is pretty much done, but in the future I wanna add some blue leds all over the place inside, just gotta rewire the laser led cluster i got laying around here.
Update 11-6-08 The computer is still going strong but was getting a bit slow. With ram being so cheap I upgraded to two gigabytes of kingston ram from 512mb.
Also upgraded the processor from 2.0ghz to 2.8. Quite a bit of a speed boost that now makes the computer pretty capable for hd video playback.
